Pakistan Air Force Training System

The most important peacetime activity of a fighting force is training for war , but this aspect has unique significance for PAF . The mission of service compels the PAF to train for combat with adversaries whose numerical strength and resources it cannot match. Accordingly, the PAF has traditionally organized its training programmes with a view to achieve maximum utilization of men and material . its training programmes aim at making up in quality what it lacks in quantity. Theses programmes draw heavily on the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the personnel who are entrusted to shoulder this onerous responsibility and who see to it that they prove equal to the task. The PAF always strives  to employ the most scientific and advanced techniques for training its manpower. It trains to outwit, outfight and outshoot the enemy.

The overall training system of the Pakistan Air Force can be divided into two mainstreams: training of officers and training of airmen. Over the years, the training system in the PAF has evolved into a smooth and streamlined procedure , which aims to train the selected ones for air operations and ground support. Presently, large numbers of training institutions are functioning under the Training branch. The standard of training maintained in the PAF is recognized all over the world. It is this trustworthy repute that  today the Pakistan Air Force has the credit of providing initial and specialized training to the personnel of over thirty allied countries including Bangladesh, Brunei, Indonesia ,Iran ,Jordan, Malaysia, Nepal,Nigeria,Qatar,Saudia Arabia,Sri lanka ,Sudan,Syria ,Turkey, Turkmenistan and UAE. To streamline the system of training for the officers, all the selected candidates for the various specialized branches are to report at PAF academy Risalpur. The PAF academy comprises three premier institutions i.e., College of Flying training (CFT), the college of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE) and the Flying Instructor’s School (FIS).
